ARTISTBianca Bernier knew early on from childhood that creating art was her passion. The primal need for expression through the visual arts continued throughout her life, prompting the desire for further development by attending a month-long summer arts intensive at Moore College of Art & Design during high school. Born, raised, and still living outside the city of Philadelphia, Bianca earned her BFA in painting from Kutztown University in 2010 and was awarded the Karen L. Anderson Memorial Award for Excellence upon graduation.
Bianca’s work has been part of national and international juried shows in places such as Lancaster County Art Association, Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Goggleworks Center for the Arts and the Maryland Federation of the Arts. Currently working out of her home, Bianca is continuously exploring and exploiting her imagination through painting and drawing, using her other hobbies such as running, rock climbing and yoga as inspiration. STATEMENTPairing the synthetic beauty of bold shapes and organized lines with organic, sensual forms creates a tension that has unlimited allure. The soft elements bonding with patterned, linear details enhances the opposing qualities and speaks to the viewer about rival forces creating unity. The ambiguity stems from my thoughts and emotions subconsciously emerging into visual, surreal manifestations on paper or canvas through an automatist process. My preference for small to medium pieces is an invitation to draw the viewer closer, making the experience more intimate. These invented escapes from reality are sometimes serene as I incorporate my love for the magic nature provides us, sometimes they emit an air of discontent. Yet, the arcane symbols and underlying psychical femininity is seductive and draws you into the esoteric worlds.
